Where is the luck?

SnG new one. Got some music on and will be playing this one carefully cause my bankroll have been damaged today and I need to rebuild it before it disappears. I know I can do this, I just need to be calm, wait for my cards, and don't play stupidly. concentrate on following what is happening on the table. I think this is a good table, they seem to be quite loose. Alot of players in pots right now anyway. And we got our first all in. and one player is OUT! AK vs AQ. Winner AK! guy to my right is chipleader so I got a good position on him. Good start! 5 players in one hand. This game might go quickly. I'll just wait for my hand.

Lots of limpers and checking going on at our table. I want to know how they face a raise, if they still call the whole way through or if they fold out.Seems like they can fold against small bets on turn atleast.

Guy totally tricked me with a flush. He limps preflop and I raise 3 times big blind. he calls me. Got flush draw on flop and called my raise. this guy is a loose callingstation. Don't try to bluff. I'm down to 1080 from 1500 cause of that so now I will have to be more careful.

These players makes me afraid of the dark, cause that is totally where I am when trying to read what cards they might be holding. In the dark. They play any combination of cards. 24 offsuit limps and won a hand. I don't dare to play unless I get a really good hand.

Won 2 hands now. KJ hit K on flop against 2 players. and AT all fold. Now I got JTsuited and wanted to play, 3 calls. on my bet preflop. flush and straight draw on turn so I bet 1 times blind, this is 1/4th of the pot. a really small bet. And all fold. This was nice :) back at 1470 chips now.

still alot of people to flop but after that not much action at all. Slow players. Loose passive players only one tight aggressive except me. This game is so slow that I'm going to join another one aswell.

5 players left now and I'm short stack, this table is challenging to play at. I'm out as 5th player with AJ against JJ. I just don't understand those guys. They play so unpredictible.

Yah yah so it was a 5th place and in the other SnG I ended on a Third place. This isn't going too well and my bankroll is thin now. 8.60$ that is about 6 $ minus today. BAD! I will have to stop now and continue tomorrow. I don't got no luck no more.

QQ vs JJ, JJ is strongest?

Allready been beaten in another SnG. 6th place. Raising preflop with QQ, get called flop 8d 5d 3c, checked to me I push all in, get called by JJ. He hits a J on river and I'm out early. Thank you Poker Gods :) nah I know it is poker. Just to get back in the sadle and get some cash. And lost another one..... 9th place. AJ hearts. This isn't my night. bankroll is getting short..... Poker Gods please help me out abit. I am a kind poker player that just want nice hands and no bad beats please.

Poker!

Getting punished at 4th place.

Play play play, I keep on playing hoping to grind up some money. New SnG, New table, New Cards, New stack and new buyins. Not really 1.50$ buyin and still SnG NLH 9players.

Just started and one of the first hands I pick up AK of hearts. Raise 4 times blinds. 1 caller that is in position to act after me. Flop 7s 6s Kd I raise with the pot. he calls, a Jc on the turn. I start worry about straight and flush draw so I decide to push all in to stop him from calling to see what's on the river, he calls anyway, QTs flush and straight draw. This is where I get worried. But it was fine. he didn't hit when river comes 7d and I take his stack making me the early chipleader.

22 on bigblind, 2 limpers and I check it. I hit three of a kind on flop and manage to win a small pot after raising the turn.

I'm out of coffee now so I need to go siting out soon and looking for a good opportunity to do so. had time to run right before bigblind and managed to get backk in time to check my pair of fives. Which won was the best hand the whole  way through and won me some chips.

Music when playing is quite important, I like calm music cause it keeps me calm at the table so that I don't get tilted or stress playing bad hands. The river flows in you by Yiruma is good I think, and other music like that.

7 players left, I'm still the chipleader and I'm just watching the battle at the table waiting for a good hand to take the opportunity to strike. Trying to read my opponents weakspots in the meanwhile to steal as much as possible on just one critical strike. Tight but aggressive is the way to play.

KK tripple blind and get one call from late position. flop comes 4d 3h Jc, I deicide to check and let him raise. he raises half the pot. He is short stack and I am chipleader so I push him all in. he makes the call and shows KK aswell. Split pot but I don't think eighter of us was really happy about the result.

6 players left, I just steal some blinds with 2.5x blind raises to build my stack and thin out the shortstacks' stacks.

5 players left and now we got a new chipleader. And right after that I lost a hand cause I played too passive. it wasn't a strong hand but when I betted it was the strongest but I didn't bet high enough so they kept chasing. Didn't lose that much so just rebuilding stack again by stealing some blinds.

4 players left and a new chipleader. Now I'm only the third biggest stack unfortunatly. But that changed quickly. got 88, raised with 4 times the blind. Got called. KQQ raised by 2/3 of the pot and the other player folded. Bought some blinds and now I'm chipleader again.

A7 offsuit against shortstacks A5 offsuit where he hits his 5 on the flop brings me down some chips. but I quickly regain some of it by stealing blinds. Only third biggest stack again though. AT against KQ, all in from shortstack and I call. he hit his Q and I am now the short stack. Pick up AQ and puts it all in wins against A7 and doubles up. Loses some money against chipleader on KQ miss on flop. And KQ against AQ and I'm out at 4th place. This didn't go that well. lost all in a heartbeat with no luck on the deck at all.

KK is my game, but no one wants to play with me.

New SnG and this one have offered alot of nice holecards for me. KK twice already and I got a good chiplead since I pushed all in against a player with QQ and I hit three of a kinds with K and he got nothing. Been crazy hands but havn't gotten much out of most of them unfortunatly. Abit tight table. Was all in with AQ offsuit against AQ Suited. Been playing agressivly and built a nice stack anyway so will try to keep the lead and stay safe. I already have a loss today so I need to place in the money. I want to play bigger tournaments but my bankroll doesn't really allow that yet. unless I play the 0.10 dollar once but people are so not serious there so I don't know if I dare.

Oh suddenly 6 players left. I'm still chipleader, not as big no more though but it is fine. I don't play as often now cause I don't get any hands. Folded JQ suited which might have been a bad idea. but better safe than sorry.

HAHA down to 5 players now. I knocked one out with KK against QQ again. Third time I get this amazing hand. Since I had a big chiplead and he raised 4 times the bigblind and he only had 10 bigblinds left I pushed all in. He called and realized his misstake, though ofcourse I would have probably done the same thing QQ is a great hand but I relay more on KK. KK three times in this game have been amazing, and we have only played 58 hands. I have a big chiplead now. 4900 against the seconds 2700 makes me feel safe, but that shouldn't fool me into playing hands I shouldn't. Have to stay calm and keep this lead. it will be a good stack for the bubble.

Player to my right pushes all in twice in a row without no one wanting to stop him he is short stack. About 4-5 blinds. I pick up JT of hearts and makes the call. his hand is Q7 offsuit so not the best of hands. I'm lucky to hit the flush and we are now 4 players left.

Short while later the shortstack pushes all in with KQ, it is about 2 bigblinds and a player calls with 79 and hits his 7 and takes out the player. 3 left now. I raise with T9 suited and gets reraised. I call. QQT on the flop, he acts first and he checks it, I push him all in, he calls and got the Q. I'm f**ked.. I am now shortstack.

KK fourth time, no action on this one though, I'm on bigblind so I just pick up the pot.

AA picks up blinds, no one wants to play with me. I'm on small blind and raise 3 times blinds everyone folds.

AA again, no action this time eighter.... I was bigblind and it got folded around.

AT suited raised gets called by one. flop comes 435 he pushes, I put him on a bluff and calls. 66. I don't hit nothing and I'm out. BAD CALL! Anyway third place and I take atleast some money. Still on minus today but it is okay cause I'm going to play another one.

Take care!

Exciting but not quite enough..

Bankroll: 14.46$

Sit & Go
No Limit Hold'em
Players: 9
Buy-in: 1.50$
Starting stack: 1500 chips.

Hey guys, so it is time for yet another SnG practice. The game have just started and I am watching the other players to know the table. So far one player is allready out before I play a hand. He pushed with Q2 suited against JJ when the flop came 444. Q2 didn't hit and is now out of the game on the second hand. Someone limped my blind and I just checked it. too early to defend blinds or I won't be able to pick up the blinds later that mathers. I didn't hit nothing and he raised so I gave him the pot.

A3 offsuit, not the best hand but I was on small blind and no one else wanted to play so I decided to raise it. Got a call, not what I wanted. Flop Ks 5c 9s, raising with half the pot. Got called. Ac hits the turn. I now got a pair of aces and got a call on the flop putting him eighter on a pair of kings, nines or flushdraw. I raise him half the pot. Called, okay that is probably kings or flush draw I think. When river comes up 6d and there is no flush draw I decide to bet 2/3 of the pot. Opponent folds. My hand was bad and I took a big risk but I think I read him quite well. Since he didn't raise anything I knew he wasn't too sure on his hand and didn't have a 2 pair or three of a kind. And since I got a high pair and he called before the ace hit the flop I didn't put him on an ace. the straight draw was closed and wouldn't make sence for him to call that bet. I picked up a pot on 540 chips.

Whoa AQ this is a nice hand I think, but no one wanted to call my 3 times blind raise. But won the blinds atleast.

JQ suited on limper and I am on bigblind, decide to raise. Got called. Flop 369 various colours, I bet 1/3 of the pot as a continusion bet but gets reraised and I fold out. Losing some of my chips. Tighten up please! These players are better than the once I met last night. Night time seems to be the better hour to play at or maybe my game is not what it should be.

Picked up a few more blinds to be back at 1500 where I started. Now I need to wait for more players to be knocked out before playing any more hands unless it is really awesome hands. Waiting for my AA. Did you know that the chance to get AA as your holecards are 1 in 212 while the chance to get AK in the same colour is 1 in 332. AA together with KK and QQ dominates AKsuited though. I wouldn't mind picking up AKsuited anyway.

52 hands dealt and the second one gets knocked out. I wasn't in the hand. Player 1 had AA and player 2 had AT offsuit and for once the best hand wins. Making us only 7 players around the table. Still too many to start playing more hands, just picking some blinds preflop but trying to keep my tight image.

Right now we got 2 big chipleaders while the rest of us are at around 1400 chips. I need to pick up a hand soon to secure my place in the money. Blinds are at 50/100.

Picking up AK offsuit from smallblind, get raised, Pushes my smallstack all in. Get called by AJ offsuit. Flop comes, J55. And from there on I don't hit nothing and the lucker wins. That's poker.

So ending at a 6th place. What have I learned, I picked up too few pots so I become shortstack. I need to be able to play a few hands even though I don't get any cards to keep my stack up. I don't do good at tighter tables.Defend blind more often, play more loose on tight tables but when I get called fold out, small ball might be a good idea. Raising 2/3 of the pot preflop to steal blinds with a potential hand. if they call you got a playable hand that can be good at the flop, if the fold, great you pick up some blinds. If you get raised, fold out, don't want to be in that game and you didn't lose too much chips to find out. Average anyway my play was okay, didn't play stupidly and was in controll. Was abit looser than yesterday without intention. This is a good thing on a tight table though. I will play another game later but for now I am done documenting.

Another SNG

Playing another SNG right now and documenting as I go, will add to it when finished aswell. Uhm so started out playing tight cause it was a really loose table. 4-5 players out of 9 to the flop at all times. Not much raises preflop eighter in early game at the table. Took one pot with JJ from the loosest player at the table that had tried playing 72 off suit and saw a showdown and she lost terrible with the pair of sevens she had hit on the flop. Was afraid of the flop cause of an A but it was fine, didn't get any huge amount from that hand though.

One player out now, but it was a badbeat from a loose player so the chips quickly got split between all of us and there is no strong chipleader and my stack is same as the average size of the stack. Just waiting out the storm hoping for a hand.

Picked up AA, since it is a loose table I wanted to go in strong to get few calls but alot of coins. 2 callers on my 8times blind one of them is all-in.. A on flop but 3 hearts, I decide to make a stand for my three of a kind and pushes my stack in. Folds and I pick up a nice pot and knocking one more player out of the game, her hand was Q4 suited in spades. second biggest stack on the table now which is quite welcome, still I will take it easy and wait for my hand for now. still a total of 7 players left.

Picks up JJ, Reraising preflop from a double bigblind to a 4 times big blind. 1 caller. 8 2 3 of various colours hits the ground, raising 4/5th of the pot and picks up some nice chips as the other player folds asking "AA?" in chat. I gave him a smiley and let him think I got the nuts. Now I am tied with the chipleader for a short second but he doesn't waste time when building his stack. So it didn't last long until he had doubled his stack and knocked another contestant out of the game.

Total of 5 players left, 3 players gets money and my stack is the third biggest and about 3 times as big as the player on position 4. So keeping my cool just stealing a few blinds with 89suited and a KJoffsuit and a trippled bigblind raise.

With only 4 players total now I feel quite safe with the second largest stack so just keeping my game tight, this is a point where I could steal abit more blinds to build up for a headsup if I had a larger bankroll, but right now I need to be in the money on every game. Just keeping my tight but aggressiv image and defending some bigblinds. I have opened up my range of hands to play since we are only 4 players left.

3 players left now and I like my stats. 2 of 2 hands won on showdown, 10 won without showdown. 7 of 70 hands I saw the flop where two was on bigblind.

Q4 offsuit and I'm big blind, player to my right limps and I check. He is the small stack with about 2 bigblinds left, flop comes up A34 offsuit, since his all-in is so small and I hit a pair of fours I decide to call and knocks his J4 out.

HEADS UP

Me: 4200
Opponent: 9300

I'm really not good at heads ups, so starting just trying to gain some chips by raising with one good card and hoping for his fold to get the blinds. This later turned out to limping a few hands and just calling to get some game going. A2 off suit is my hand. him limping on smallblind and me just checking bigblind. flop comes 343 various colours. I pray for a five to complete my straight. I check flop, he raises with the pot. I felt that I had this if I could just hit that five. and also he was probably just trying to by the pot cause I had checked it. I decided to make the call. Down comes a T didn't make much difference but opening a flush draw. I checked to keep the pot small for now and he raised with half the pot which I called. 5 hits the deck on river with no flush possible. I raise with half the pot, he pushes me all in and I call and win the hand. He had the 4 so he had me before river, I was very lucky, but the game didn't end here, he still had some of his chips left. he built up his stack abit again till we had about a tie.

The big hand was another chase by me.I'm really not good at headsups. my hand Q6 of hearts. preflop, call and check. I'm on smallblind, he is chipleader by 400 chips. flop comes AK3, AK is both in hearts. He bets the pot, I call, another K hits the deck on the turn. He checks, I bet 2/3 of the pot, he doubles me and I call. 4 of hearts on the river completing my flush and with the highest card possible on my hand. He pushes, I call. And win against his K8.

2 hands later I win with pocket QQ with an all in on the flop. his hand 97s.

I have to say that I was really proud of my game from the start until the heads up, but once in the heads up I took abit too big risks at times. I was lucky to win the heads up I know that and I need to practice the heads up play. But before that it went smooth and nice, didn't play any unesseccery hands. And now the bankroll is up to 14.5$. Two wins today, one secondplace, and one fifth place. Good enough!

All the best to you all!

Starting out!

So I decided to play some Texas Hold'em online to try mastering the game. So far not good, have played for awhile and I suck! Therefor now I document my progress, thoughts and things I learn to try to check where I went wrong!

Where I already have gone wrong:

  • Started playing live events without knowing the rules
  • Played against better players
  • Never really calculated odds or outs
  • Get tired and all in spam
  • Get tilted and all in spam
  • Played on too high level for my bankroll
  • Bought a book to learn Texas Hold'em but it was about draw poker
  • Bought a book about Texas Hold'em but didn't finish it
  • Played too loose
  • Played too tight
  • Took re-raises against me personal
  • Went afk and forgot I was playing

There we go, there is probably alot of other things I have done aswell and I am about to find out more about my weaknesses through this blog. See the strongest players in any sport is the one that knows their weaknesses so they can relearn and improve.

I played today, my bank roll started out today at 6$, yah I know, incredible big bankroll. Anyway after three sit&goes with buy-in 1.50$ I have finished first, fifth and second. this brought my bankroll up to about 10$. I know I play on too high buy-in for my bankroll but not much to do when the smalles sngs are at 1.50$ and I didn't have a greater amount on the site.

My play today have been quite okay except a few bad hands. Tried a few bluffs too hard, and lost most of my stack when I wasn't folding at the right time. Need to read the game better when doing bluffs, and maintain a stable stack. Chose starting cards more wisely. This worked well in the last sng where I ended second place. Managed to hit two good hands in a row at the start, QQ and AK which I managed to put two players out of their missery with and gain a good lead early. This lead got abit lost when I tried bluffing once at 4 players left to gain some chips but managed to get to second place with what was left. unlucky heads up where he was a great chipleader and I went all in with the best hand but got called for it and he hit his straight.

Going to play one more Sit & Go tonight and I hope to gain some knowledge of the game and that my documenting of games will help out in me playing better.

All the best for now!
W.
